Spring has sprung!

Last week, the Master Gardeners visited the first grade classrooms to share their "Ready, Set, Grow" program.  This was an introduction to the first graders "Plants" unit in science.  The students learned all about seeds, plants, and gardens.  Everyone had a great time learning with the gardeners.  They even got to plant their own flower seeds to take home!  I even learned a little fact about snakes.  I now I know to look at the shape of their eyes to determine if they are poisonous or not.  Either way, I'm staying far away from them!

Multiplication Taco Party

On Friday I was invited to join in with the class for a taco fiesta by 4th Grade teacher, Mr.  Luke.  Each week, students had to  master a specific multiplication factor. In order to master this factor, they had to complete a total of 32 problems within 2 minutes while being timed.  They also had to receive a 100%.  If they didn't conquer their goal that day, they had the opportunity to master that factor by the end of the week.  The following week, all students moved on to the next multiplication factor with the same time limits & expectations.  Each factor that they mastered, they got to add an ingredient for the "Multiplication Taco Party."  The ingredients with the multiplication factors are as follows:
0- cup
1- drink
2- paper plate
3- taco shell
4- meat
5- napkin
6- lettuce
7- tomatoes
8- cheese
9- ingredient of your choice
10- chips and salsa

Thank you Mr. Luke!  The tacos were delicious!  Luckily I remembered all of my facts!
